Family, Friends, and Brothers:

Welcome to the DC Gamma Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Georgetown's first and only social fraternity. Our objective is personal development, which we've been emphasizing since our inception in 2005. SigEp is different, and what makes us different from the typical fraternity is what fuels our brotherhood. There is no pledging, no hazing, no Animal House. While John Belushi may have worn Greek letters, we live Greek principles-namely, those of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love.

As president, I have the privilege of directing the Balanced Man Program, through which brothers are encouraged to achieve a balance of sound mind and sound body in their everyday lives. Advancement through the program relies on four "challenges," each focusing on self development, community involvement, experimental learning, and true brotherhood. Members are driven to take full advantage of the many opportunities on Georgetown's campus and outside Healy Gates that they otherwise would not. The Chapter is the catalyst in these endeavors, providing the support structure and encouragement to achieve, while the men of DC Gamma supply the energy and enthusiasm.

Our 'sound mind' coordinator works to organize world-class speakers, roundtable discussions, and fieldtrips to cultural exhibits outside brothers' individual traditions. Our 'sound body' coordinators organize SigEp intramural sports (2007 Kickball Champion, Volleyball Finalist, Soccer Semi-Finalist, and Hoya Hoops Challenge Final Four), personal training sessions, group workouts, runs to the monuments, and nutrition seminars.

Most importantly however, while striving to achieve the lifestyle of balanced men, we have an amazingly good time. I encourage you all to explore the pictures from our recent programming events and to check back frequently for continued updates. Highlights include paintballing, white water rafting, our fall 2008 retreat to National Headquarters in Richmond, and various date nights that encompass everything from ice skating at the National Mall, to a trip to a Halloween haunted house in Maryland, and attending the lighting of the National Christmas tree. These occasions always provide great pictures and better memories. From three years in SigEp, I can honestly say that there are no times better spent than in the wholesome activities of brotherhood.

In short, we try our very best to help every brother to realize the ideals and aspirations of a balanced life. I'm very proud to be part of a brotherhood that continues to yield accomplished and impressive gentlemen. Please have a look around the website, and we'd love to answer any questions that you may have.

Warmest Regards,

Matthew Breen
Brother President

Help support the SigEp Relay for Life team!

DC Gamma is forming its very own team this year for Georgetown's Relay for Life event this April! Cancer impacts our community on a daily basis, and it has had a deep and personal impact on our very own chapter here. We are committed to the fight against cancer, and we would appreciate your donations to support our team's efforts this year. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society to help fund Research, Education, Advocacy, and all the Programs and Services they offer. The work they do is so important to keeping up the fight.  To help support our team and the ACS, please take two minutes of your time to follow this link and give what you can. Thank you greatly for your support!
